“Royal Rose Garden” – 2025 Solo Exhibition of LaFe’s New Works
"From Rose to Heart: LaFe's Art and Emotional Expression"
Recently, someone heard a beautifully profound phrase that perfectly describes the beauty of watercolor painting—"sunlight material floating in the air." This naturally brings to mind the song "Love is in the Air" by pop singer John Paul Young. Indeed, watercolor painting is like a beautiful love, much like pop music, floating naturally in the air, widely spread and shared.
Globally, there are two artists who focus on "flowers" as their creative theme: Yuko Nagayama and LaFe. Their works perfectly embody this beauty and influence. However, it is LaFe who stands out particularly. He is renowned for his unique recognition and challenges in "single-flower composition." Some say that his "single rose" exudes an infinite "happiness" charm, and each of his rose paintings seems to tell a beautiful and joyful story.
However, beyond his rigorous technical training, LaFe's success is built upon countless moments of "spiritual" cultivation. His passion and love, accumulated to a level beyond ordinary people, infuse his works with creative energy. Therefore, when people observe LaFe's works, they often feel the kindness and warmth he radiates, along with an indescribable sense of love.
LaFe graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Silpakorn University in Thailand. In addition to painting, he has a strong interest in sculpture and printmaking. When people carefully examine his work, they will notice his extreme dedication to the purity of both the image and the thought process. He never relies on pencil sketches but instead creates with the highly difficult technique of flat coloring, which, after years of practice, has reached an outstanding level of mastery that is truly admirable.
He uses his "eyes" as the "pencil" for his sketches, determining the shape and color arrangement of the flowers through observation, and then skillfully and precisely applying the paintbrush. His control over water levels is also impressive, as every stroke is perfectly measured, maintaining the ideal moisture for the painting. Despite the complexity and layers of his work, it is still logical—decisive, confident, and meticulous. In the composition of a single rose, he is able to present "light and shadow changes, the relationship between primary and secondary elements, as well as depth and blur"—such effects require an immense amount of "restraint, modesty, humility, maturity, and composure."
Art creation is diverse and free, and its value lies in an artist’s ability to develop a unique "recognition" and "language" that is distinct. LaFe is indeed an artist worthy of admiration and respect. Do you agree with this view?
Let us all embrace and love art through the "understanding" of spiritual exchange!
