• Ting Shao-Kuang

    Ting Shao-Guang (born October 7, 1939), originally from Jiexian, Shanxi Province, was born in Chenggu County, Shaanxi Province. He is a Chinese American artist and a master of modern bird re-color painting.

    In 1962, he graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University).From 1962 to 1980, he taught at the Yunnan Arts University.

    He currently serves as the President of the International Chinese Artists Association and the Founding Chairman of the World Artists Association of America.

    1986–1996: Held over 400 personal exhibitions in various countries worldwide. His works are collected in over fifty countries and regions. He has been featured in thousands of dedicated reports across global newspapers, television, radio, books, and magazines.

    1990: At the World Art Fair in Japan, he was selected for the “Top 100 Art Masters” list since the 14th century, ranking 29th. He was the only Chinese artist to be included.

    1993–1995: Selected as a United Nations Representative Artist (UN Artist) for three consecutive years.

    1993: The United Nations (UN) issued the limited edition print of Shaoguang Ding’s work, “The Light of Human Rights” (人權之光), globally to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

    1994: The United Nations (UN) issued the limited edition print of Shaoguang Ding’s work, “Maternity” (母性), globally to commemorate the International Year of the Family.

    1995: The United Nations (UN) issued the limited edition print of Shaoguang Ding’s work, “Religion and Peace” (宗教與和平), globally.

    1995: The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) issued postage stamps featuring six of Shaoguang Ding’s works: “Xishuangbanna” (西雙版納), “Lullaby” (催眠曲), “Peace, Equality, and Progress” (和平,平等,進步), and “Culture and Education” (文化與教育). These were released globally to commemorate the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing). The first-day covers and stamps are permanently preserved at the Palais des Nations Museum (Geneva).

    1995: The United Nations (UN) featured Shaoguang Ding’s art and life in articles circulated to 160 countries worldwide for three consecutive years.

    1995: In the summary report on its art and philatelic projects, the United Nations (UN) nominated and honored 29 contemporary art masters over its 50-year history. Shaoguang Ding was the only Asian artist among them.

    1995: NHK Publishing (Japan) published The Collected Works of Shaoguang Ding (丁紹光作品集), which won the World Cultural Exchange Gold Award.

    1996: The Ministry of Culture of China approved the holding of the “Shaoguang Ding Award National Fine Arts Exhibition” (丁紹光獎全國美術大展) at the National Art Museum of China (中國美術館). Art collections (畫集) of Shaoguang Ding were published in China, the United States, Japan, France, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

    1998: He was invited for the fourth time to create the work “Beautiful Dream” (美麗的夢) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The limited-edition serigraph print was issued globally by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), and the first-day cover was issued by the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA).

    2001: He was once again commissioned by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to create the work “Childhood” (童年). Limited-edition serigraph prints were issued globally for a charity sale benefiting UNICEF.
