“Mutual Reflections” — The Creative Inspiration Behind the 2025 Joint Exhibition by Wu Hung-Chun, Su Tong-De, Ono Saito, Chiu Tai-Ping

"Mutual" — A Relationship, an Action, a Force

"Mutual" is both a relationship and a mode of behavior. It requires internalization from all sides to achieve meaningful and complete realization.

In many fields, we often observe a tendency toward unilateral expression—where one party clings to their own intentions and expectations. Regardless of the maturity of the medium used, the clarity of the message conveyed, or whether the “audience” and the “effect” resonate on the same frequency, the outcome is often far from unified.

Artistic creation, through its transformation of language, form, and complex modes of transmission, carries a unique and often powerful representational value.

And yet, the so-called butterfly effect that art yearns to trigger is not always evident. This is largely due to the limited reach and infectiousness of art—it cannot be easily replicated or made persuasive.

Even so, mutuality within art remains profoundly important. When an artist’s work is recognized, it shapes their creative journey and fuels further growth. At times, it even opens paths for broader market development and cultural prosperity.

By emphasizing “mutual,” we aim to encourage the evolution of shared ideologies and thought. Mutuality is about respect, trust, and understanding—it is, above all, a positive force with the power to influence.

Li Bai and Van Gogh may not have been paragons of mutuality in their time, yet their legacies have accumulated a kind of goodness over generations. The power and resonance of mutual relationships undeniably require greater support and resources—a truth that is beyond dispute.

In this exhibition, four exceptional artists each bring forth their distinct language and creative strength. We sincerely invite you to lend them your support and encouragement.
